Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Cajun spice blend
  • 1 teaspoon onion granules
  • 2 teaspoons garlic granules
  • 1 teaspoon smoked chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons tomato purée
  • 1 1/2 cups plant-based mayonnaise
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Method

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
  1. Make sure you have everything ready. You want to minimize distractions so you can focus on creating this incredible sauce.
Step 2: In a Bowl, Combine Dry Ingredients
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the Cajun spice blend, onion granules, garlic granules, smoked chili powder, and tomato purée. Stir them thoroughly so that the spices start to awaken and blend together.
Step 3: Mix in the Mayo
  1. Add the plant-based mayonnaise to the spice mixture. Use a whisk to combine them until the mixture is smooth. The goal here is to have a homogenized blend without lumps.
Step 4: Season It Up
  1. Add the salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Stir well. Taste a small amount to adjust seasoning to your preference. If you like it spicier, feel free to add a pinch more Cajun spice.
Step 5: Finish with Fresh Herbs
  1. Fold in the chopped fresh parsley. Not only does it look fantastic, but it also adds a vibrant freshness.
Step 6: Store or Serve
  1. If you’re not using it right away, transfer the sauce to an airtight container and pop it in the fridge. It will last for about a week.

Notes

  • Keep It Fresh: If you can, use fresh herbs over dried ones for a brighter flavor.
  • Taste as You Go: Adjust the seasoning based on what you're pairing it with. Different proteins and veggies may need a tweaked flavor profile.
  • Make-Ahead: This sauce tastes even better after a day in the fridge. Let the flavors meld for maximum impact.
  • Spice it Up: If you’re a heat enthusiast, add more smoked chili powder or even a dash of hot sauce for an extra kick.
  • Blend for Smoothness: If you prefer a super-smooth sauce, consider using an immersion blender for that perfect texture.
